Teenage Goldfinch

I had this chappie come to the garden with dad. While dad was eating niger seeds, he was chomping away on the ground. He got bored of that and patiently sat in the branches waiting for dad to finish. And waited and waited.

Babies and big birds

I've had some babies in the garden.

A baby collared dove
Some baby greenfinches
A baby goldfinch (don't they look like they have forgotten to put their glasses on?
This jackdaw looks like he's upset the sturklet
And I've seen a baby woodie, but not snapped him yet.

May Birds

A baby sparrow contemplating food that is way bigger than him

Mr sparrow braving the sturks

This lovely collared dove seems surprised he's been caught on camera

There's 4 different birds in this shot. The goldfinch, the greenfinch, the wood pigeon and the blur is a sparrow (honest)

Birds in the Snow

What a fab face. It seem like he knows he's been papped.

It was funny how the birds sunk in the snow.

What's he looking at?

Maybe all the starlings who obviously weren't impressed with the quality of food in "their" garden so cam to mine.

This tree was the most popular hangout.

Snow

We had rather a bit more snow than the previous post.

Not that it stopped the finches

Or the blackbirds

Winter Birdies in the Snow

We had some snow just before Christmas
The garden looked white
Mr Blackie liked to sit in the snow. Strange man.
They also liked to sit on the roof.
I had a black cap start to visit. He liked the bird table. No sign of the missus though
A family of up to 5 gold finches have started to visit. They like the feeder.
